Volunteer and Serve at Journey Church

If you love being welcoming and meeting new people, being a greeter at Journey Church may be the perfect role for you. Our greeters are friendly, smiling faces that welcome people as they come in, answer questions, and make everyone feel welcome.

Our parking lot team volunteers are the first friendly faces that everybody sees when arriving at church. This ministry position is perfect for volunteers who enjoy welcoming churchgoers and enjoy being outdoors on Sunday mornings.

Our ushers help everyone feel welcome by guiding them to available seats in our worship center. On busy Sunday mornings, finding an empty section can be intimidating, and ushers help to alleviate people of that burden.

Our cafe is full of wonderful volunteers who not only make food and coffee, but also foster an environment for people to meet and gather in fellowship before and between our church services. If you enjoy fellowship and cooking, the cafe might be just the ministry team for you.

Our Kid City Downtown volunteers work with our very youngest children and babies. They are patient, understanding, and excited to share God’s message with the kids every week while also taking care of their needs so parents can attend church. Experience with babies and toddlers would make someone an excellent candidate for our Kid City Downtown volunteer program.

If you enjoy working with school-aged kids, whether as a teacher or as a helper (or in some other role), Kid City Uptown is the place for you. Every Sunday morning, Kid City teaches kids about Jesus and the Bible using music, stories, snacks, and age-appropriate curriculum to help our kids grow in their own faith walks.

Serving at Kid City’s check-in is an easy and valuable role at Journey Church. We take measures to keep every child safe and connected to our system at Journey, and our check-in volunteers make this possible. When serving in this ministry, you will help families check in, know where to bring their children, and ensure that they get picked up by a parent or guardian at the end of the church service.

Our Revolution youth ministry helps teens continue in their own faith walks, learning how to live out their faith as they go through the everyday challenges of life. You can be a great part of this process if you volunteer as part of this ministry team—teenage interaction with strong Christian adults is a necessary part of their growth. Teens need consistency and guidance to flourish. High-energy people who can keep up with teens do very well volunteering in Revolution!

Our guest services ministry has a big impact on the future of the church, as they are typically the very first people that those new to Journey Church will interact with. Volunteers in this ministry are friendly people who can answer questions about the church and help guests engage with Journey Church to the fullest extent. Along with greeting guests on Sundays, this team performs outreach during the week to connect with recent church visitors.

Throughout the year, Journey Church hosts various events to reach out to the community with the Gospel. It takes a group of dedicated people to make these events successful, and the community events team stands by, always ready to jump in. Whether organizing beforehand or working during an event, these volunteers represent Journey Church in the community and invite people to get to know Christ. Members of this team should be friendly, ready to engage, and willing to spend time to make events happen.

Love to cook? Meals could use your help! This team reaches out to families in and around the church who are in need of meals during difficult times. Volunteers in this ministry stand ready to prepare and/or deliver the food to families in need.

God has blessed us with beautiful facilities that are an important part of our mission, and we want to be good stewards with them. If you’re skilled in construction and/or cosmetic building work, the construction and painting ministry team would love to have you. This team allows our building to be maintained, remain welcoming, and be an asset in reaching our community.

The cleaning ministry is an important behind-the-scenes team. Our cleaning squad helps maintain the church so that we can welcome everyone into environments that are clean, sanitized, and ready for use. If you have good attention to detail and an hour to give during the week, the cleaning team may be the perfect place to volunteer.

Counters are a crucial part of our finance department. These volunteers are focused and attentive, helping to gather information about each week’s Sunday donations so they can be accurately allocated toward the ministries and outreach of Journey Church.

The production team creates much of the “wow” factor during our worship services that helps create the environment during our worship time. If you enjoy being “behind the scenes” and have a passion for the technical side of things including lighting, production, or sound, we would love to have you on this team.

Can you sing? Can you play an instrument? If so, you should consider auditioning for the worship team. This group of volunteers practices during the week to lead our church in worship on Sunday mornings.

The graphic design team creates custom materials for Journey Church to use for outreach, announcements, ministry advancement, and more. Volunteers will be part of a team that works on fostering the knowledge and expertise to create compelling designs that attract the eye and call people to action.

Our Journey Connected Online Campus is easily the fastest-growing ministry at Journey Church. Our videographers help people who are unable to attend physically experience the Journey difference at our online campus. If you have video experience or if you would like to be trained, we’d love to have you join this team!
